The agreements coverr more than 900 employees at the two brewerieds and provide wage and pensiohn increases over the course ofthe contracts. “Out members overwhelmingly ratified these contracts at MillerCoors becausre they provide stability for their saidJack Cipriani, director of the Teamsters Brewery and Soft Drinok Workers Conference, which represents workers at the “For the next three years, our members at MillerCoores know that their wages and pensiojn benefits will increase, which is saying a lot in today’ss economy.
” The contracts call for no health care cost increases for workers in the firs year of the contract and only minor increases for the seconr and third years, accordinh to the union. The new deal also guaranteese that employees who have retired or who will retire duringf the course ofthe three-year contracts won’f be required to pay health care “We value all generations of our so we made sure that there were improvementsx for both active members at MillerCoors and the retirees who had pavedd the way before with their long years of service,” Cipriani said. The Teamsters union representsd 1,200 MillerCoors workers nationwide.
The unio n also represents workers at the MillerCoords breweryin Irwindale, Calif. Negotiationss for a new contract covering employees at the plant areunder way. MillerCoors is a joint venture betweeb MillerBrewing Co., Milwaukee, and Coorxs Brewing Co., Golden, Colo., that launched in July 2008. MillerCoorx operates a major brewery and regional officeon Milwaukee’w west side. Workers at the Milwaukees brewery are represented by Brewery Workers Local 9 of the Unitex AutoWorkers union.
